| SOMETHING TO CONSIDER: After having goats a few years and purchasing goats for a few years I've come to notice a few things so I will say this. You may want to ask yourself "why" Nigerian breeders sometimes don't show pictures of their does udders. I often see nigerians for a sale at farms that command a high price and yet no udder photos. I always try to get udder photos. I don't expect a perfect udder when buying a nigerians but want to know what I am going to "start with". If you buy a doe and you have NO IDEA what her udder is like that you have nothing udder wise to consider when pairing her with a buck. For instance if I buy a doe with great capacity but little teats...out of my bucks you can bet I'll be pairing her with one from a dam with large teats. Without knowledge of the udder shape and size etc your first year is a complete crap shoot when trying to improve on the udder. Just thought I would mention this as it still amazes me that with Nigerian DAIRY goats some breeders manage to sell them with no info on the doe's udders. |
