HELLO
&
WELCOME TO RHYTHMIC ACRES

We are located in Indian River, MI 49749 which is approximately 30 minutes south of
the famed Mackinaw Bridge & Mackinaw Island. We recently moved to our new
location in late September 2006.

We are currently breeding Registered Nubian & Registered Nigerian goats. I have been
striving to purchase goats with lines reputable for their milk production and
conformation. We attended our first goat show in 2009 at which our Nubian buck at the
time took a Grand Champion and our other goats did quite well considering I had no idea
what I was doing our first show LOL.
We have some outstanding bucks and does here and
although all haven't yet made it to the show ring I'm confident they'll all produce high quality
kids.

After much research on CL and other diseases we will focus more on Linear Appraisal (L.A.)
which judges the goat against the breed standard. This should give buyers a better idea of what
they are purchasing versus show wins as those that win shows are only better than the others
that show up and it isn't necessarily about judging against the breed standard (correctness).
That said I love shows as still learn a lot when there so may attend a few here and there. If we
do our goats will be stalled in our own trailer and not in the grounds provided and will leave the
trailer only to enter the ring and then return. CL also infects the ground and so my fear is with
thousands of animals passing through show grounds....more than likely it is there in places
hence my preference of L.A. as have too much invested in my herd to not be cautious.

If you've never had a goat...consider them as they are an animal that will always put a
smile on your face. Our animals all receive tons of love and extreme care. Everyone is
UTD on shots, they get routine grooming, free choice loose minerals, free choice sodium
bicarbonate,  and stalls and pens cleaned and maintained routinely.  All of our goats have
their stalls loaded with clean straw in the winter and all have heated water tanks.

We do have does kid in winter as we have two kidding stalls appropriately set up for this
with heat lamps etc. A camera is on the stalls so I can keep an eye on does at night...yes
that means little sleep for me! :)

Our test results are available to the public on our Herd Health page of this website. Our
herd was tested last in 2011 and results came back CAE/CL negative.

You will find this site is updated often. I am constantly learning new things and try to share
with others. I'm not going to pretend to be a pro at goats. I'm NOT. I'm not sure I'll ever feel
confident enough to even say that LOL. :) I've learned a ton in the last few years and am eager
to keep absorbing new info.

So far I'm loving every minute of it. These breeds are a joy to be around. So WHY should you
want a goat? I've learned that goats are great for many reasons. They are hilarious pets, that
produce tasty milk, that you can also make soap with, or cheese with, or ice cream with...etc.
Now how many animals are out there that are that well rounded.  Oh and the other big plus is
they eat things such as poison ivy etc and like it with no ill effect. If you have horses the goats
prefer the weeds and horses the grass leaving you one very nice pasture. If you have never had
goats then your missing out! :)

NOTE: We do not butcher/kill goats. Don't get me wrong...I'm not against those that do. I just
personally get very attached to my own animals and thus cannot do this or sell my animals into
homes for meat. Our goats are all milkers &/or pets. Also please note that although I also
consider my goats as  pets we DO breed for milking goats of show quality and I am trying to
gather some strong milking lines in my registered herds. I've paid a high price for many of
these breeding stock animals and am working hard to ensure my herd stays healthy and clean
and all animals are tested. I pay close attention to all when breeding and am trying to improve
attachments of udders and teat sizes along with conformation etc. Thus price in their kids
reflects that but if you want a quality goat...well it just simply cannot be pet quality price if you
know what I mean as I couldn't afford to buy and breed them then.

Our goats are very loved and well cared for. Please email Kristi.Morton@ymail.com with
questions.
