OUR LIVESTOCK
GUARDIAN
(LGD)
LUKA : GREAT PYRENEES
Luka is our male LGD livestock guardian dog. He is a love towards me but knows his job. He lets out warning barks to any strange people or
creatures on the property and I'm certain he would take care of business if needed. He warns off coyotes on summer nights and is always on
the lookout. He even guards our chickens as they'll will roam far out in the pasture at times and he watches over them too.

He loves his job and life. I am certain of this because of this story. When we got him he had one undescended testicle (breeder did not inform us
of it at the time we purchased him). It's invasive like having a female spayed as the vet has to go in and feel around etc to find it and remove it. So
he was sore afterward. I bedded him down in a kidding pen in our garage which is not within his normal enclosure. Put out a bunch of straw an
pig ears for him so he'd be comfortable while I was at work. The walls of the pen were 4 ft and typical dog kennel fencing. Well when I came
home that day my eyes were wide when I pulled in the drive and there he was out in his own pen with the goats. He on his own accord gave up a
day of sleeping in soft clean straw with fresh water and pig ears and food to much on to instead scale the 4ft fence, sore and all, and crawl back
through the hot wire to go back to his goats. So after that I knew he was happy without question doing what he does. I look at him though and
do think he truly lives the life. He gets to run about 8 acres and never is tied or chained or penned or kenneled as are many dogs. In the summer
he likes to sleep beneath a giant pine on a hill that overlooks his pasture (the one he is shown laying under above).

Also if purchasing an LGD from a breeder in Michigan with the initial R.P. please email me as a reference and save yourself. My experience was
"not at all good" in that case.
